Sledgehammer Games has stated several times in the past that Call of Duty: WWII’s multiplayer Supply Drop rewards will be cosmetic only, but similar promises that were made in previous games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare wound up only being temporary as new weapons and weapon variants were eventually introduced. Now, it’s looking like the case may be the same with Call of Duty: WWII.
During a recent cover story interview with Game Informer magazine, Sledgehammer had this to say in regards to Supply Drop items being cosmetic only:
“At least at launch they are going to be cosmetic only. We don’t know about after that. There was a lot of framing like, you know, during the launch window, we’re gonna keep it cosmetic only.”
“At launch” seems to be a popular phrase among Call of Duty developers since it means they can eventually introduce non-cosmetic loot items without having technically lied or broken their previous promises. While nothing has been confirmed as of now, it seems like a safe bet (especially considering what happened in previous Call of Duty releases) that Call of Duty: WWII’s Supply Drop items won’t remain cosmetic-only forever.
