Will Infinite Warfare Weapon Crafting Include Microtransactions?

Will Infinite Warfare's Weapon Crafting feature have microtransactions similar to Supply Drops?

At Call of Duty XP, Infinity Ward announced that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will have a brand new feature called Weapon Crafting. Weapon Crafting will allow players to completely customize their weapons cosmetics and statistics to best suit their playstyle. For example, two players may have the exact same weapon, but one player may have a variant that allows them to get more points per kill and on the other hand, the other player might have a variant to allow them to reload a lot faster. This system would also appear to be set up for use with microtransactions, similar to Black Ops 3’s Black Market. Will Activision and Infinity Ward use the Weapon Crafting feature for microtransactions?

Quarter after quarter, Activision announce that sales via microtransactions are increasing dramatically, which means that it's almost certain that they will be coming to Infinite Warfare. Would you get rid of something that consistently makes you a lot of money? Didn’t think so. With the Weapon Crafting feature including four different types of variants; Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary, it already looks like Black Ops 3’s Black Market. Although Activision are yet to announce supply drops in Infinite Warfare, it may only be a matter of time before they do.

It's possible that Activision has not yet announced supply drops in Infinite Warfare to try and keep the positive buzz the game received post XP going. With many fans believing that the microtransactions are “Pay to Win,” Activision will want to leave the announcement to the last possible second. Of course, it is possible that the "pay to win system" may not be within Infinite Warfare, but with the large amounts of money supply drops generated for Black Ops 3 and Advanced Warfare, it's difficult to see them not in the game.

Microtransactions are now a part of modern gaming, and have become a staple for developers and publishers these past several years because there are no limits on what can be added to games. From wacky, out there camo's to brand new DLC weapons, the possibilities are endless.
