Black Ops 3: Gorod Krovi Monkey Bomb Guide

We'll show you how to upgrade the Monkey Bombs in Black Ops 3’s Gorod Krovi Zombies map.

Black Ops 3’s Descent DLC introduced the new Zombies map, Gorod Krovi, which is still brand new and fresh for many players with no shortage of secrets that the map may hold. We’ve covered such things as the how to upgrade the Dragon Shield in Gorod Krovi, how to get the Dragon Strike in Gorod Krovi, and many others.

However, today we’re going to be showing you how to upgrade the Monkey Bombs in Gorod Krovi. This one is a bit more dependent on luck, but is nevertheless a very process with a minimal amount of steps required. These steps however, can be elongated based on just how lucky you are in game while playing and attempting to acquire upgraded Monkey Bombs.

That said, if you follow this easy guide, you’ll be able to upgrade your Monkey Bombs in no time!

Step 1: Acquiring Crate Power

For the sake of this guide we are going to assume that you have already acquired Black Ops 3 Descent DLC’s new GobbleGum entitled “Crate Power” from Dr. Monty’s Factory. Kee in mind that this guide is dependent upon that sole GobbleGum. Because of this, you will want to make sure that you not only have the Crate Power GobbleGum, but also have it selected for Gorod Krovi.

Crate Power will allow you to have an upgraded weapon immediately out of the box, enabling you to have a well set up weapon at an early round if all things are permitting. While in Gorod Krovi, take a few spins at the GobbleGum machines. This may take you a few points, but when you have Crate Power dispensed to you, you will have completed the first step towards upgrading your Monkey Bombs.

Step 2: Acquiring Monkey Bombs

At this point you should have Crate Power as your active GobbleGum. From here you want to find your way over to Gorod Krovi’s mystery box. Make sure that you have either points to burn, and don’t be too disappointed if you don’t spin the Monkey Bombs right away. In order for you to upgrade the Monkey Bombs, make sure that you do not take anything before they are dispensed to you as the first weapon you select from the mystery box is what gets upgraded as a result.

You can spin past weapons and let them go back in, but the one you choose is the one that is upgraded. Once you spin the Monkey Bombs, grab them, and from there it’s just a matter of throwing them and enjoying the show!

Step 3: Rock the Dubstep

When you’ve acquired the Monkey Bombs out of Gorod Krovi’s mystery box with Crate Power as your active GobbleGum, it will automatically ‘Pack-A-Punch’ it, though we know you can’t actually put your Monkey Bombs in the Pack-A-Punch machine. The properties are transferred over and as a result, the properties of the Monkey Bombs are different than normal. The Monkey Bombs gain a red mist around them, and when thrown, will blast wild dubstep music leading up to the resulting explosion.

Removing the classical circus music with the monkey’s cymbals with dubstep is a little curveball we’ve yet to see in the Zombies game mode. Though it is not immensely game-changing and as of right now, it does not seem to change the damage properties of the Monkey Bombs. However, it is still a very cool Easter Egg hidden within Gorod Krovi. Upgrading your Monkey Bombs in Gorod Krovi is relatively simple, and something that you can show off to your friends!
